The Hellenic Bioscientific Association in the USA (HBA-USA) announces the initiation of the HBA-USA Travel Scholarship Program.
The Travel Scholarship Program aims to award one scholarship per year to a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow who is enrolled in a U.S. or Greek program and their work has been submitted to be presented in an American or international conference. The scholarship amount for this academic year is $1,000. Through the Travel Scholarship Program, the HBA-USA intends to recognize and support biomedical scientists of Hellenic ancestry who pursue opportunities to present the results of their research work to the American and international scientific community.
Eligibility
All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1) They are members of HBA-USA and have paid their 2019 membership dues.

2) They are of Hellenic ancestry.
3) They are enrolled in a graduate studies program or are postdoctoral research fellows in the biological/biomedical sciences and/or bioengineering either in the U.S., Greece or Cyprus.
4) They have submitted (preferably accepted) an abstract to a scientific conference in the U.S. or internationally. Applicants enrolled in a graduate program in Greece or Cyprus are eligible to apply only for a conference in the U.S.
To apply please submit 1) a copy of your CV, 2) one reference letter stating the applicant’s graduate or postdoctoral program, 3) a copy of the submitted abstract, including the name and location of the intended conference and the abstract acceptance status, and 4) a letter of interest emphasizing the potential impact of the scientific conference and this scholarship to their career (max: 300 words) at administrator@hba-usa.org by June 30th, 2019. The award will be announced via email by July 15th, 2019.
All applications will be evaluated by the HBA-USA Board of Directors. The awarded applicant will be selected based on their credentials and the potential impact of the scientific conference on their career. Priority will be given to applicants earlier on their careers. All applicants should provide proof of abstract acceptance by July 10th. The monetary scholarship will be awarded upon proof of conference registration.
