HBA Scholarship program 2026 – 2nd Cycle (Primary Award) – Dr. Michail Kokkorakis

I am a Greek physician-scientist and postdoctoral fellow at Yale School of Medicine, where I use computational and multi-omics approaches to study liver fibrosis mechanisms, supported by a Rubicon grant (Dutch Research Council). During my MD-PhD training at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, I developed and validated machine learning prediction models for cardiometabolic diseases. Additionally, I was selected as a Young Scientist for the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and as a speaker in its Next Gen Science Sessions, where I presented a framework that predicts an individual’s remaining healthy years from 15 questionnaire items. I thank HBA-USA for the scholarship awarded in support of my travel to this meeting. I aim to continue my postdoctoral work while remaining connected to the Hellenic scientific community in the United States.
