I am deeply honored to receive the HBA-USA Scholarship Primary Award and grateful for its support as I continue my Ph.D. training at Emory University. Originally from Greece, I earned my B.S. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Democritus University of Thrace, graduating as valedictorian. My doctoral research focuses on hepatitis B virus (HBV)-host interactions, using functional genomics and molecular virology approaches to identify and characterize cellular factors that regulate HBV infection. My work aims to uncover fundamental mechanisms underlying chronic HBV infection and contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies. Throughout my training, I have had the opportunity to present my research at national and international scientific meetings and collaborate with researchers across institutions. The HBA-USA Scholarship will support the next stage of my scientific development by enabling me to broaden my research expertise, foster new collaborations, and further engage with the international scientific community as I pursue my long-term goal of becoming an independent biomedical researcher.
