Dr_Patsopoulos

We are very excited to host Dr. Nikolaos Patsopoulos, MD, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School in our first “Meet the Professional” event for 2021.

The meeting will be focused on “Biomedical research and career in Academia” and it will be open to the audience for a discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to ask Dr. Patsopoulos questions about his career path and his journey in science from Greece to the USA.

Dr. Patsopoulos is Director of Biology and Computer Science Program in the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has led the largest genetic study in multiple sclerosis on behalf of the International Multiple Sclerosis Genetics Consortium, with more than 110K participants. He is using large-scale genetic data and algorithms to build a detailed genetic map for multiple sclerosis. Besides unraveling the genetic architecture of the disease, his group is using genomic and epigenetic data to identify implicated genes and prioritize new targets for drug development.
